Keep Moving Forward : 9 Life-Changing Lessons Taken from the Hiking Trails of America

Life Isn’t a Race, It’s a Hike.
When You’re Unsure, Take the Next Step Anyway.

Keep Moving Forward is a thoughtful, uplifting exploration of life’s lessons as learned on quiet trails, steady climbs, and moments of reflection in nature. Through nine simple but powerful principles, Matt Landry shares how the outdoors became a classroom for courage, perspective, and personal growth.

Each lesson is rooted in lived experience and speaks directly to the challenges we all face: fear, doubt, setbacks, and the pressure to have life figured out. Along the way, readers are encouraged to do it scared, to remember that the destination is the journey, and to slow down enough to be grateful and mindful of the moment they’re standing in.

The book also reminds us to expect the best while planning for the worst, to recognize that your attitude determines your altitude, and to seek out the people who support and elevate you, your tribe. It encourages you to hike your own hike, honoring your unique pace and path, while also understanding the value of commitment and learning to embrace the sacrifice required for meaningful growth.

At its heart, this book is about persistence. When progress feels slow or the path feels steep, it offers a steady reminder to keep moving forward, even when the steps are small.

You don’t need to be a hiker to connect with these lessons. You just need to be human. Navigating change, growth, and the quiet determination it takes to keep showing up for your own life.

Keep Moving Forward is a companion for anyone who needs reassurance, encouragement, and a reminder that forward motion, no matter how uncertain, is always worth taking.
