Synopsis
When American Detective Rusty Miller accidentally collides with a fleeing priest while on assignment for Homeland Security in Rome, he has no idea that the seemingly chance accident will catapult him into the underground world of the Vatican. The priest’s dying words are a plea, a bug in his ear, the spark that ignites a fire within him to discover just what is going on behind the walls of the Church that has, for so long, closed itself off to the world outside. Driven by a desire to uncover what the dying priest was talking about, Rusty soon finds himself coupled with an unlikely pair, a young but brilliant medical student by the name of Lorenzo and his devout sister, Anita, a beautiful woman who catches Rusty’s eye even behind the confines of her habit. A curious handful of denarii, a dead relative, a vault full of relics, and an archive full of hidden knowledge will lead the three deeper into mystery and history than they ever expected, but will they be able to stop a malicious force in time? Will the keepers of secrets silence them for good? Can they trust the wonders of ancient science, the mind-blowing miracles witnessed in the underbelly of Vatican City? Will they survive to tell the tell? What will they learn from the keepers of secrets, and will they discover that they, themselves, have an integral role to play, or will they merely become casualties of the long-fought war against revelation?
