About the Author
A life-long Chicagoan, Dennis Foley is the author of three books and two award-winning screenplays. Dennis first book,The Streets and San Man's Guide to Chicago Eats, a handbook of Chicago's off-the-beaten-track eateries, won a Midwest Independent Publishers Association award (1st Place for humor). He also authored a memoir,The Drunkard's Son, and a novel, The Blue Circus, both set in Chicago. No Ketchup is his fourth book. Dennis wrote the screenplay, Not a Stranger, which was filmed on Chicago s South Side in 2015. It received a 3-star review from film critic Richard Roeper upon its screening in 2016, and went on to be nominated for or win several awards on the film festival circuit, including Top Screenplay (Golden Door Film Festival) and Top Debut Film (Route 66 Film Festival). The film has since received distribution and is now available on Amazon Prime and other outlets. Married to his bride Susan for over thirty years, they have three sons Matt-30, Pat-28, and Mike-20. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia College-Chicago, and a JD from The John Marshall Law School. He is also a proud graduate of Christian Brothers University in Memphis. Over the years, Dennis has had the pleasure of working as a bouncer, assistant state s attorney, criminal defense attorney, dog-walker, electrician, beer-line cleaner, teacher, and coach. In addition to working on his craft, Dennis founded and runs a lacrosse program for South Side kids and still uses his legal skills on occasion to keep his friends out of jail.
