Gary Jenkins was born in Brooklyn, New York. He spent most of his school age years in Florida. During the early 1980s, Gary had the opportunity to become one of the first painting instructors on television in the United States. With the huge popularity of the national television show, came the chance to branch-out and start traveling to teach painting workshops all around the United States. This television show, called Jenkins Art Studio, aired on about 130 television stations annually, for over 16 years, making it the longest running art show to produce new series each year. Also during the early 80's, Gary met his wife, Kathwren, also an artist. Together they began their own video tape production company. They were the first artist in the U.S. to produce How-To oil painting instructional videos. These were non-television videos that they still produce today. Currently, Gary and Kathwren are planning to take several trips to Europe to do public appearances and also teach their Jenkins Certification Art Teacher Program. J-CAT. They are looking forward to make new television series and producing new DVDs and Books. Gary and Kathwren currently reside on the West Coast of the United States.
