About the Authors

Laurie Ouellette is Professor of Media Studies at the University of Minnesota. She is author of Lifestyle TV, Better Living Through Reality TV (with James Hay), and Viewers Like You? How Public Television Failed the People, and editor of The Media Studies Reader, Reality TV: Remaking Television Culture (with Susan Murray), and A Companion to Reality Television. She writes the “TV on Demand” column for Film Quarterly and is editor-in-chief of Television & New Media.

Jonathan Gray is Hamel Family Distinguished Chair in Communication Arts, Professor of Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and author and editor of numerous books, including Dislike-Minded, Show Sold Separately, Planet Digital (with Aswin Punathambekar and Adrienne Shaw), Reading Media (with Daphne Gershon), Fandom, Second Edition (with Cornel Sandvoss and C.
