Kick Rocks: The Book: Be Real. Be Free. Be You.

Kickrocks: The Book

You followed the rules.
You ate the affirmations like pieces of free candy.
You “turned the other cheek” so many times you got whiplash.

And for what?

A life made of apologies and “woo-woo” language?
A heart still afraid of its own shadow?

This isn’t a book about healing.
Healing is a cult where the coaches always cash the check.

This is about the moment you stop kneeling at altars built for people who never had your strength.

You don’t need another mantra.
You need a mirror that doesn’t flinch.

I am Chase Murphy. Through rape and sexual abuse, and through the experiences of a less-than stellar childhood, and then finally, the death of my infant son in 1999, I needed to write this book because I understood what it meant to feel lost and unwanted, talented and yet, adrift. From a very nearly successful suicide in 1994, to this very moment, I know what it takes to get, and stay, free. I know what it means, now, to love. To feel joy. To truly be alive. And now it's your turn. That's why I wrote this book.
