A Kid Just Like Me: A Father and Son Overcome the Challenges of A.D.D. and Learning Disabilities

When Bruce Roseman’s young son, Joshua, was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, Bruce and Joshua embarked on an extraordinary journey of both heart and mind. Drawing on his medical training and knowledge gleaned from a lifetime of dealing with his own disability, Bruce was able to determine where his son’s difficulties lay, and eventually developed a system that enabled Joshua to combat his disability and learn to read. Deeply moving and full of information about this all-too-common disorder, A Kid Just Like Me is the true story of a father who refused to believe that his son was “unteachable”—and proved that with a little patience, and a lot of love, anything is possible.

If you are a parent who has felt there is nothing you can do for your child, A Kid Just Like Me offers you hope that things can change, and help in the form of concrete techniques that you can use to assist your child in the battle against their learning disability.

Bruce Roseman, M.D. is an attending physician at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center and Beth Isreal Hospital in New York City, with an appointment at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine. He has appeared on Good Day New York, Everyday with Joan Lunden, and PBS' Live Wire.
