Kidde de Ugra: An Unreasonably Long Way from Home (The Kidde de Ugra Series)

Kidde de Ugra only wanted to return a library book.

Unfortunately, the library had moved.

What follows is an unreasonably long journey through planets that close on Tuesdays, departments of naturally occurring events, temporary permanence, identity documents that expire before they become valid, and a bureaucracy so advanced that common sense has become largely procedural.

Along the way, Kidde discovers that a planet can be closed while still allowing landings, that a bird can repair a spaceship more successfully than an electrician, that refusing property may result in purchasing a moon, and that returning a library book can become a matter of interplanetary importance.

Dry, absurd, cumulative, and increasingly impossible, Kidde de Ugra: An Unreasonably Long Way from Home is a comic science-fiction novel about a universe where every problem can be solved — after the correct form has been submitted.
