Kids Get Coding: Algorithms and Bugs

Algorithms and Bugs are key components in the new computing curriculum. We look at how algorithms are used to give computers instructions, how they are set up, how they can be changed and adapted. We also look at how computers make decisions using IF statements and how we can predict outcomes. Lastly, where would we be without debugging! This simple way to work through your algorithms and catch the bugs, or problems, is a key skill for computer programmers - young and old! Throughout the book there are practical activities to assist learning, and links to online activities where they can practise newly learned skills. Algorithms and Bugs supports the key stage 1 computing curriculum points: understand what algorithms are; how they are implemented as programs on digital devices; and that programs execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions; create and debug simple programs.Kids Get Coding is a fantastic, hands on resource for anyone looking to get started with coding. The four titles cover key areas of the computing curriculum with simple text and fun activities. Each title contains practical on- and off-line activities that are easy to follow and fun to try on your own or with friends. Guiding young coders through each title is the Data Duck - a computer-programming mastermind here to help with hints and tips! The Kids Get Coding series is written by Heather Lyons and Elizabeth Tweedale of blue{shift} - a company dedicated to teaching children to become active creators of technology. Alex Westgate's bright illustrations bring wonder and fun to this exciting new topic. The book has been read but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact and the cover is intact.
