frontis (map), index, xii, 395p. plus 2 unnumbered plates in text and 31 numbered plates at end. Original brown cloth. 30 cm. El lib (Koloniaal Instituut) as well as another previous owner's circular ownership stamp on blank page facing half-title. Some splitting and other wear on and along backstrip which has had soglue repair along joints. Scattered light foxing. Dutch text. The bark of the cinchona tree was the source of quinine which is still one of the treatment options for malaria. Seller Inventory # 90386
