Kinds of Sounds

The world is full of many loud and soft sounds.

Dogs bark, horns blare, and rain patters gently on the roof. Beginning readers hone their phonics skills while learning about different sounds and how we hear them with our ears. As readers practice decoding words with diphthongs /ow/ and /oi/, they gain science knowledge. Every Stairway Decodables nonfiction book combines multiple aspects of the Science of Reading to support small group instruction, independent reading, and reading practice at home.
