King David and Akavish the Spider

Before David fought Goliath or became the King of Israel, he was a young shepherd. 

Hungry and poor, David practices with his sling to protect his flock from wild animals.

When he uses a spider's web as a target, he meets and befriends Akavish the spider. David's kindness to the small creature rewards him in an unexpected way.

This simply written but moving tale of young King David takes a well-known midrash and shows us that one should not only be thankful for all of creation but also that by using one’s own wits and very special talents anything becomes possible.
