About this Item
A smart copy of this popular novel from H. Rider Haggard, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrated with one plan and two plates. Collated complete. Telling of Allan Quatermain and his group of adventurers in an unexplored region of Africa in search for a missing brother of one of his men. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. In chapter XI, Haggard described an eclipse of the sun at the time of the full moon; when this was pointed out to him as being an impossibility, he changed the eclipse to one of the moon. This change took place in 1887 and all subsequent issues. As stated in "A Bibliography of the Works of Sir Henry Rider Haggard 1856-1925" by J. E. Scott. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is very smart with minor wear and light chipping to the extremities. Sympathetic repairs or reinforcements made to the internal side of the head and tail of the spine with tape. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Near Fine.
