Following an expedition through an unexplored region of Africa by a group of adventurers led by professional big game hunter, Allan Quatermain, as they search for the missing brother of one of the party. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. Illustrated by Sir William Russell Flint, a Scottish artist and illustrator. In the original red cloth binding with gilt decoration. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Light age toning to the endpapers. Sympathetic repairs made to the folding map with tape to the reverse of closed tears.
