Kinney Road (Paperback or Softback)

After the brutal loss of his beloved wife Red, Mitchell Walker abandons the modern world and takes to the forgotten backroads of America, walking mile after mile in search of peace, redemption, and perhaps a sign that love survives death. When his journey carries him to the wild Northern California coast and a quiet stretch of Kinney Road, Mitchell is drawn into the lives of strangers whose wounds mirror his own: an embattled mother and daughter, a brilliant young programmer fleeing the digital empire he helped build, and spirits who seem to move between nature and memory.

Set against crashing surf, cypress groves, hidden fault lines, and the haunting beauty of Highway 1, Kinney Road is a visionary novel about grief, conscience, destiny, and the battle between the human soul and a world consumed by technology. As the earth itself begins to tremble, Mitchell must confront the past that broke him—and the future calling him back to life.

Epic, intimate, and spiritually charged, Kinney Road asks a timeless question: when everything is shattered, is what remains worth believing in?

Thomas Preiss writes from his chair, under a rosebush, in Tombstone, Arizona.
