Kitsune Tea

What happens when a physicist surrenders to poetry? A fox brews tea beneath a blossoming moon, the cosmos hums a tanka, and truth flows abundant above the humble grass.

In his luminous debut collection, Kitsune Tea, poet and scientist Bill Morrow takes readers on a dreamlike journey through myth, memory, nature, and deep space. Rooted in the precision of a physicist’s eye and soaring on the wild wings of imagination, these poems shimmer with intellect and heart. From haiku to ghazal, concrete poems to free verse, Morrow’s forms are as varied as the galaxies he invokes—and just as mesmerizing.

Kitsune Tea is both playful and profound, tender and unflinching. It explores family trauma and sacred wonder, intimate encounters and cosmic truths. The title poem flows through the seasons with “the thunder of a million tiny things growing,” guided by a wily fox spirit who whispers, “It all must stop or I’ll go mad.” Readers will gladly follow that madness into a world where ravens speak forgiveness, truth feels prophetic, and white space holds as much meaning as the words themselves.

Enhanced by Morrow’s original drawings and black-and-white photographs, this collection is visually stunning and emotionally resonant. Whether through sharp wit or aching beauty, these poems invite you to see the world—and yourself—anew.

For lovers of the mystical and the mathematical, the lyrical and the logical—Kitsune Tea is a rare and radiant brew.
These poems are a radioactive meditation on the meaning of resilience, along
with a memorable meet and greet with the eternal shadow. Unforgettable!
