In Hebrew. Lacks the boards and book block broken into its signatures. First and last page reinforced by tape. 25 x 17.5 cm. Frontispiece, [4], 283 pages. Ben-Ami (Mordechai Chaim Rabinowitz). Translated from the Russian. Ben Ami write in Yiddish and Russian. He was born in Podolia and moved to Odessa in 1864. In the 1881 riots he organized the first self-defense organization. After the 1905 pogroms he moved to Geneva, and in 1923 he immigrated to Eretz Israel. His stories depict the beauty of traditional Jewish life. Most of his stories were translated from Russian and Yiddish into Hebrew by Bialik and Bar Tuvia.
