A guide to Hawai'i fishes introduces over forty varieties, including English and Hawaiian names, descriptions, and fun facts about each kind of fish.
Wilfred Toki was born in a small plantation camp in Mokuleia. His childhood was spent in the Waialua area playing in streams, picking wild fruit, swimming, and fishing in the ocean. Years later, as a grandfather, Toki revisited the wonders of his youth and creating this and many other stories about Hawaii and his special bond with the sea creatures he often dived to see.
As an artist, Toki has had a long, successful career. He has been Art Director and or Vice-President for firms such as Tongg Publishing, Co., Fujiki and Toki Design, Inc., Starr Seigle McCombs Advertising, and Reed Kaina Schaller and Strom Advertising.
He continues to paint and draw and is currently sculpting--by hand--stone poi pounders, bowls, and sinkers. His work can be seen in art galleries around town.
