I Know You Know: Integrating Traditional and Contemporary Healing Thinking and Application

Our mental, physical, and emotional states are all closely interlinked when it comes to health. If one of these states becomes weaker than the others, creating an unhealthy imbalance, there are certain things we can do to reinstate balance. This involves a range of strategies relating to our ability to reflect and connect with ourselves and the environment. Though it may not be so easy to see, there are many instances in which we can look inwards to our own knowledge and perception to heal, before automatically turning to regular health services.

'I Know You Know', is both the title of this book and a message, that we all have the ability within us to take charge of our own health and wellbeing. We each already have the tools and knowledge within us to self-heal and seek harmony in life - sometimes all it takes is a new way of approaching healing.

What does it mean to heal holistically? To what degree can we control our own wellbeing? Health with harmony is a complex journey, which takes many unexpected twists and turns, and dips into various aspects of life. 'I Know You Know' integrates traditional Eastern and contemporary Western medicine concepts, and we invite you to explore how your life fits into this way of thinking. Through introducing various new modes of thinking and some practical strategies to apply these to your own life, we hope to help you learn how you can navigate the complexities of your wellbeing in different ways.

Regardless of whether you come from a background of traditional or contemporary healing philosophy or experiences, or are just beginning on your healing journey, this introductory book brings us all together. With open-mindedness, we can develop greater awareness of our own wellbeing and perceive new ways in which we can apply this thinking to our own experiences and decisions in life.

Dr Haisong Wang is a Chinese medicine and tai chi practitioner, and has been practising at his family-owned clinic, Capital Health Centre of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Canberra, Australia, since 2000.Prior to this, Dr Haisong worked in the emergency department of a hospital in China. He also taught Technical and Further Education (TAFE) courses in Chinese medicine at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) from 1999 to 2009.Now, while practicing at his clinic, Dr Haisong is involved in various projects with his staff members, with the focus of promoting health and wellbeing within the Canberra community and beyond. Dr Haisong's projects often stem from shared interests and motivations with his clients and develop into meaningful collaborations. He has developed projects and talk-groups with various members of the community, and from various backgrounds of health and other expertise.He has a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Medicine and a Master's degree in Prescription Science in Chinese Herbal Medicine from Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Pryor Hollis is studying full-time at the Australian National University (ANU), working towards a Bachelor of Science degree. She primarily studies physics, mathematics, and French. Pryor is passionate about supporting her worldwide community. In 2022, she planned and coordinated fundraising and awareness-raising events and several college-level workshops for, and in collaboration with, organisations against human trafficking, Blue Dragon Children's Foundation and The Human, Earth Project. The events included a film-screening and QnA session open to the Canberra community, and brought to light the horrors and immense challenges that human trafficking in Vietnam represents. She is also a passionate advocate for women in STEM and values the arts, particularly dance and music. Pryor also works part-time as a personal assistant and administrative staff member at the Capital Health Centre of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her broad interests and global perspective bring diversity to the clinic, through various projects she works on with other staff members surrounding health and wellbeing in the community.
