About the Author

Father Ralph Kuehner was ordained a priest in 1950. He has graduate degrees in Theology and Sacred Scripture. In 1970 he was co-founder of SOME (So Others Might Eat), a program to help the homeless in the District of Columbia. In 1979 he founded Victory Housing, which became an Archdiocesan housing corporation, providing affordable housing and related social services for low- and moderate income individuals and families. He was also a co-founder in 1979 of the Interfaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington, which now has eleven faith communities as members. He is co-founder in 2004 of Rosaria Communities, an Archdiocesan housing corporation, providing housing for persons with special needs. Father served twice as director of the Archdiocesan Office of Social Development (1970 - 1978 and 1996 -2002). He is currently involved in Church and community organizations to help the poor and is an active priest of Saint Francis of Assisi in Derwood, Maryland.
