About the Author

Sharon Wootton is an award-winning writer, photographer, and editor whose work has appeared in dozens of publications, including U.S. News and World Report, Outdoors Northwest, Odyssey, Cross-Country Skier, the Tacoma News Tribune, and the Peninsula Daily News. Her outdoors and nature columns appear regularly in two Washington state dailies, the Olympian and the Herald. Wootton is the co-owner of songandword, which offers writing and songwriting workshops on Shaw Island.

Maggie Savage is a singer/songwriter who has produced two recordings of her own music, performed on Washington television stations, and led songwriting workshops at Northwest Folklife Festival for more than 10 years. She is a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), and the Seattle Composers Alliance, and with Sharon Wootton she leads workshops on Shaw Island.
