Knowledge and Practice in Mayotte: Local Discourses of Islam, Sorcery, and Spirit Possession

On the East African island of Mayotte, Islam co-exists with two other systems of understanding and interpreting the world around its inhabitants: cosmology and spirit-mediumship.
