Knowledge is "Real Power" Introduction to Power Quality

Mark A. Shirah, CPQ, explains the very complex subject of power quality and reliability in layman's terms and uses real-world case studies to illustrate various situations, problems, and resolutions.

Power quality is no longer just what customers want-it's what they need. Today's commercial and industrial facilities, as well as electric utilities, need reliable power quality to successfully compete in their respective markets, and residential customers need it to efficiently run their homes.

While dramatic technological changes-from incandescent to LED lighting; from across-the-line-start motors to programmable logic control, variable frequency drives, and robotics-bring major advantages (such as energy efficiency, improved production, and much more) those new technologies also bring new problems and concerns.

In this introductory power quality reference book, Mark A. Shirah, a Certified Power Quality Expert with 30 years' industry experience, discusses power quality issues and uses real-world case studies to illustrate various situations, problems, and resolutions. His simplified approach to explaining this complex subject matter has been beneficial to linemen, engineers, engineering techs, troublemen, key account managers, safety officers, customer service reps, meter techs, and many others in his Power Quality & Reliability classes and throughout his career.
