Original award plaque measuring 12" x 16". Awarded to "Father of Hip Hop," Clive Campbell AKA Kool Herc, the DJ who among other achievements in 1973 introduced a dual turntable setup that allowed him to loop instrumental breaks in funk and disco songs, providing the "break" in breakdancing and the musical bedrock over which rappers could rhyme. He called the technique The Merry-Go-Round. While Herc's recorded output has been negligible, his influence on hip-hop music and culture is immense. This plaque was personally awarded to him in 1992 (when the sampling era of hip hop was at its height) and comes from his estate. A little minor wear but bright and in great shape overall.
