Vol I is titled The Bridal Wreath, Vol II is titled The Mistress of Husaby, and Vol III is The Cross. This work won Undset the 1928 Nobel Prize in Literature, which was awarded to her "principally for her powerful descriptions of Northern life during the Middle Ages". Her work is much admired for its historical & ethnological accuracy. Set in fourteenth-century Norway, this is the life story of a passionate and headstrong woman.
