About the Author

Gerry Kruger resides in Albemarle County just west of Charlottesville, Virginia. On Kruger Pond: CHARLIE'S STORY is her first book. Shortly after her husband Fred's death in 2002, she started writing the stories of the geese that had visited their pond. In 2000 Charlie, a fightless, broken-winged Canada goose, had showed up and captured their hearts. She says, "Fred always wanted me to write about the geese and especially about Charlie." Kruger taught English for 39 years in Virginia'a public schools. During that time she taught many students, who, for one reason or another, had been unsuccessful in school. Like Charlie, they needed special attention in order to become confident enough to survive in a world that is not always kind to those with handicaps. Gerry continues to write about the geese on Kruger Pond and hopes to publish a sequel to Charlie's story.
