Fernando Frade Merino (1917-2011) was a Colonel in the Spanish army who served in the Spanish Civil War, and in Morocco where he learnt Arabic, about Islam and its manners and customs. He was a member of the Spanish Association of Military Writers (AEME). From 1968 he visited several Middle Eastern countries in order to report back to the Spanish public on the state of the Islamic world. He did this through a series of articles for Ejercito magazine, and in works such as this, including several works on Saudi Arabia, and on Islam. Here, he describes Kuwait's geography, history, people, religious life, its cities and life in them. (Reference: Asociacion Espanola de Militares Escritores (AEME)).
