NOTES by Ochiai. This is a valuable & comprehensive set of footnotes, explaining the text. . Eventually Hearn lived and worked in Matsue, after marrying a Japanese woman, Koizumi Setsuko, from whom he took his Japanese name, Koizumi Yakumo. This is how he signed the letter to his publisher. . *** Condition: Generic: The book is bound in the publisher's green cloth, with paper title slip on the cover and black in on the spine. There is a double-folding facsimile letter to the publisher from Hearn as a frontispiece. . When present this came with a gray dust jacket with green printed titles and likeness of Hearn on the front. . Not all copies are the same, copies vary and have differences, please carefully read the copy notes and description of each copy. . Copy 1: dust jacket has minor chips at top spine, top, edges & corners, a bit of fade spots to covers, else clean, solid, contents also clean & solid. . Copy 3: a beautiful example, excellent cloth covers, a bit of wear to the dust jacket spine head/tail, corners, else a bright example, internally immaculate. .
