Ffith printing (probably circa 1950s, first published 1936). i-ii, [frontis], ii-viii, [8], 1-88 pages. Hardcover: H 20.75cm x L 14.5cm. White dust jacket rubbed and soiled with chipping and tears at edges, strong moisture staining to front panel, spine panel toned, moisture stain at rear panel's top left corner; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Green boards, scuffing at spine ends. Toning to edges and endpapers; non-authorial Christmas gift inscription in ink on front free endpaper; toning and light moisture staining at margins of b/w plates; faint red pencil margin marks on pages 4-5; no other such markings readily apparent upon a quick perusal and interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. Else a very good- copy in a only a fair dust jacket. Total of eight b/w plates (including frontispiece) on unpaged leaves. Biography of Justice of the Peace and Judge Roy Bean of Langtry, Pecos County, Texas who called himself "The Law West of the Pecos." This Everett Lloyd biography preceded the similarly titled 1943 Bean biography by southwestern historian and UTEP professor Charles Leland Sonnichsen.
