Condition: Fair. No Edition Stated. 384 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Black cloth with gilt lettering. Pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, with moderate foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards have been moderately rub worn. Noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Considerable splitting to both spine joints. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. The boards are a little shelf rubbed and slightly faded. There are spill marks on the top edge of the first few pages and minor tears on the edge of the title page. The text is legible. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Nd. But Bodleian gives 1931. 5 x 7½" pp. 384 + 48 publisher's advertisements. Very good in black cloth with gilt lettering to spine and front board. Spine lettering faded. Firm and tight with no marks, stains, stamps or labels. Book is covered with clear adhesive film. No dust wrapper. Inscribed 'Gladys Lloyd with Compliments from T.H. Dey "Our true intent is all for your delight" (Midsummer nights dream)'. (Dey peppers his text with quotations from Shakespeare.) A Gladys Lloyd was an actress and wife of Edward G. Robinson. She is not in the index to the book but she and Dey moved in the same circles in 1920s and 30s London. This book is extremely scarce, and an inscribed copy even more so. Signed by Author(s).
