Reflections on the Burma Road, Yunnan, Kunming, through fever valley to Paoshan, charcoal burning vehicles, delousing the Chinese army, foreign missionary wo- men in Pichieh, West China mission stations, lepers of Sala- ach'i, the Yunnan-Kewichow highway, of temples and Chinese hills in Kweilin. Cities on the Yangtse, Chengtu, Szechwan, famine on the Yellow River, down to the Pearl River, on to Wuchow & Canton, Hankow holiday, Hong Kong & Peking sojourn & good descriptions of those cities and its sights. An excellent first-hand account of the country in the immediate post world War II period, while the communists were just consolidating their control in the distant parts of China. Useful.
