A primeira obra trata de Direito Natural, uma teoria que pretende fundamentar o direito através de uma análise atenta da natureza humana, baseando-se nos seus valores intrínsecos e no bom senso. A segunda obra, sobre Direito Civil, divide-se em duas partes, nomeadamente Jus Publicum Universale, latim para Direito Público, que regulava as relações do governo com os seus cidadãos; e Jus Gentium, latim para Direito das Nações, um conceito de direito internacional dentro do antigo sistema jurídico romano, usado durante a Idade Média com influências do direito canónico. O Jus Gentium caiu em desuso no século XVII, devido ao desenvolvimento de corpos de direito distintos pelas nações europeias, ao declínio da autoridade do Papa, e ao colonialismo. Karl Anton von Martini ou Carlo Antonio de Martini (Revò, 1726 ? Viena, 1800), foi um notável jurista e filósofo do império austríaco, professor na Universidade de Viena, e conhecido por ser maçon. Works containing the legal doctrines of Karl Anton von Martini, used in the courts of Vienna, on Natural Law and Civil Law. The first work deals with Natural Law, a theory that aims to ground law through a close analysis of human nature, drawing on its intrinsic values and common sense. The second work, on Civil Law, is divided into two parts, namely Jus Publicum Universale, Latin for Public Law, which regulated the relations of the government with its citizens; and Jus Gentium, Latin for Law of Nations, a concept of international law within the ancient Roman legal system, used during the Middle Ages with influences from canon law. The Jus Gentium fell into disuse in the 17th century, due to the development of separate bodies of law by European nations, the decline of the Pope"s authority, and colonialism. Karl Anton von Martini or Carlo Antonio de Martini (Revò, 1726 - Vienna, 1800), was a noted jurist and philosopher of the Austrian Empire, professor at the University of Vienna, and known to be a Freemason.
