Add to basket12mo. 250pp. Morceaux choisis de Pierre Louys a J.-P. Sartre. An interesting anthology of short pieces, more or less erotic, extracted from the works of a dozen or more French writers working from approximately the turn of the century until when the book was published. Most of the familar names are present - Henri Barbusse, Jean Giono, Blaise Cendrars, Marcel Proust and the boys - but there are some pleasant surprises, like 'Sally Mara', a pseudonym of Raymond Queneau although here not revealed, whose works On est toujollrs trop bon avec les femme 'We always treat Women too Well' and Journal Intime are represented. The former is a curious, violent book about a girl who, during the Dublin uprising of Easter 1916, is captured by Irish rebels whose war cry is 'Finnigans Wake!." Paperback. Covers creased and worn; spine cocked and creased. Overall a Good copy.
