REF 041469 Scarce early edition 1838. Small hard cover, binding is still tight and square. Paper covering on boards is marbled but so worn with rubbing that it is hard to tell. Black leather spine covering is worn as well. First free end paper has a chip torn from the middle edge. Pages with scattered light foxing, are flexible and quite readable. Interestingly on page 31 a prior owner has glued what looks to be a newspaper clipping titled "Fred. Douglass and his Master's Pig.".

We had an open shop in the Northwest section of Philadelphia in the Chestnut Hill, Mt Airy neighborhood for 18 1/2 years. It was in a beautiful 1882 train station designed by the noted architect, Frank Furness. In August of 2014, we closed that shop but continue to sell on-line out of our home in Williamsburg, PA.
