LEYENDAS URBANAS

There are urban legends all over the world and Claudio Soler has selected the most creepy and striking, from Nessie, who lives in the depths of Loch Ness to the famous story of the Chupacabra. They are stories that we could define as «something that never happened but is told as true», a way to simplify our reality. Although the stories told are extreme, there is something comforting about that exaggeration because of its lack of complexity. They are facts so curious and in a certain way attractive that they cause excitement of wanting to share them, that is why they spread like wildfire, nowadays especially through social networks, where nobody cares much about checking if they are true facts. This book addresses the phenomenon of urban legends and offers a mosaic of the best-known stories grouped by theme. In each chapter there is curious information on how this phenomenon works and how these myths are spread and settled.
