Ex-libris (étiquette) de l'évêché de Chartres au contreplat et ex-libris ms. de la bibliothèque de St Jean du Val (diocèse de Chartres) sur le titre. 84 fig. gravées sur bois dans le texte, (32) ff., 511 pp., (9) pp. Quelques mouillures pâles. Seconde édition corrigée et augmentée du Monde ou Traité de la lumière, pour lequel Michel Bobin avait obtenu le privilège en 1663. Cette partie est illustrée de 32 figures gravées sur bois. Le reste de l'édition reprend le même texte que celui de l'édition originale de 1664 : le Traité de l'Homme proprement dit, illustré de 52 figures, les Remarques de Louis de La Forge et la traduction de la préface de M. Schuyl pour l'édition latine de 1664. Conçu au début des années 1630, le Traité de l'Homme était resté inédit à la mort de l'auteur, celui-ci ayant préféré ne pas le livrer à l'impression après la condamnation de Galilée en 1633. Rédigé en français, c'est pourtant la traduction latine (établie par le philosophe hollandais Florent Schuyl d'après une copie manuscrite de l'ouvrage) qui fut imprimée en premier en 1662. Ce livre qui décrit la physiologie et les mouvements du corps de l'homme comme ceux d'une machine mécanique eut une influence considérable sur les philosophes matérialistes du siècle suivant.
