In this translation to Spanish of the Sefer Yetzirah, or “Book of Creation,” Hebrew scholar Manuel Forcano seeks to make the ancient Jewish text—the oldest extant writing on Jewish esotericism in Hebrew—accessible to a new generation of readers. The Book of Creation has for many years confounded some of the most experienced scholars with its anonymous authorship, enigmatic content, and occasionally incomprehensible syntax, but for all its mystery it is perhaps second only to the Talmud in terms of its influence on the development of Jewish thought. This edition serves to pull back the veil on a foundational Jewish writing that is as important to Kabbalah as it is to the body of esoteric and mystical texts at large.
