About the Author

Joseph Rudyard Kipling naci� el 30 de diciembre de 1865 en Bombay (Mumbai), la ciudad portuaria m�s importante de la India. Sin embargo, �l era brit�nico, pues la India era una colonia inglesa. Vivi� en la India, en Inglaterra y en Estados Unidos, y muri� en Londres el 18 de enero de 1936. Casado con Carrie Balestier, tuvieron tres hijos, aunque Josephine muri� de gripe siendo muy peque�a, y su hijo John muri� en acci�n de combate durante la Primera Guerra Mundial. Solo sobrevivi� Elsie. Enamorado de la cultura y el exotismo que le rode� en su infancia, se convirti� en un prol�fico escritor, no solo de novelas para los j�venes y adultos, sino tambi�n de cuentos infantiles y libros de poemas. Goz� de gran �xito y reconocimiento, y obtuvo de hecho el Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1907.
