This book was written by an officer who served in World War 2 and knows his subject very well. It is not a dry as dust overview of bomber command in World War 2, the author has written a very readable account of an often controversial campaign. The author is not an apologist for area bombing or seeks to evade the grim reality of the conditions that existed for the aircrew involved.Perhaps because this book was written in 1971, it was nearer to the end of the war that it has a very authentic feel that is often missing from modern day writings on the same subject.
