This is designed for an introductory electronics course, for a student who is a novice to an electronics laboratory, without an earlier exposure to equipments, components, devices and testing techniques. The first two experiments comprising part one of this manual on introduction and operation of basic test instruments are so designed that the student learns the operations of the instruments in a programmed manner. The experiment on electronic components gives a brief description on passive components. The second part deals with diodes and circuit application of diodes. Both small and large signal behaviour of diodes is studied. In part three an introduction to basic amplifier and amplifying devices is given. Vacuum tubes, bipolar Junction transistors (BJT) and field effect transistors (JFET) are introduced. Basic application of integrated circuit operational amplifier (OPAMP) is also given. In part four special electronic circuits, techniques and applications are included. Self-test multiple choice questions, at the end of the book, further enhances the understanding of the experiment and related theory.Along with the knowledge of electronic circuits, the student is exposed to the important construction techniques commonly employed in the fabrication of electronic gadgets.
