1964 hardcover edition. Book has faint shelfwear to cover corners and ends of spine. Previous owner's info inside front cover. Small slight scuff to top back cover. Otherwise, pages are clean and crisp. Binding is strong and boards are sturdy. No rips, creases, or other markings. Dust jacket has slight shelfwear along all edges and corners, including 2.5inch crease/rip to front top and 0.25inch rip to top back cover. Light rubbing to front/back covers. Otherwise, jacket is intact. No other rips, creases, or markings. All text and imagery clearly visible in full colour. Now in protective mylar cover.

About the Author
Art Preis (1911–1964) was a member of Socialist Workers Party National Committee from 1940 to 1963 and longtime staff writer for the socialist newsweekly the Militant. A leader of the struggle of the unemployed in northern Ohio, he took part in the 1934 Toledo Auto-Lite strike. That battle, together with strikes that year by truck drivers in Minneapolis and longshoremen in San Francisco, helped pave the way for the rise of the industrial unions across the US. Preis is the author of Labor’s Giant Step: The First Twenty Years of the AFL-CIO (1964).
