About this Item

Twelve issues from January to December 1870 bound. Over-sized thick three-quarter leather hardbound (quarto). Dark brown leather spine with cloth boards. The binding is in very good condition: light wear to the top of the leather spine and a small surface abrasion to the leather right above the spine title (about the size of a quarter coin). We have redyed the abrasion and we have treated the leather with The Library of Congress formula for leather preservation to good effect (the volume presents well on the shelf). The text/illus pages are tight and clean with no marks, no foxing. The volume is distinguished by 24 quite nice steel engravings. The text is also embellished with numerous textual wood engravings. No name of previous owner. Total number of pages is 952. Presents a vivid insight into the American woman's mind and values in the era following the Civil War. Bookseller Inventory # MP15-1713C
