Lady Alone

One woman's struggle for survival at sea on a forty-foot sailboat, Lady Alone is a tribute to those souls who have conquered their fears to overcome deteriorating calamities far beyond their limits.

Joan Mackland, a twenty-three year old Kiwi with no previous sailing experience, makes a bold statement of independence by accepting the position as sole crew on a forty-foot sloop named, Atmosphere, bound from Guam to Hong Kong. On the high seas, life on board Atmosphere becomes routine, but in a nighttime storm in the middle of the Western Pacific Ocean the captain is lost overboard and Joan is thrown headlong into a desperate search that deteriorates into her own survival made more untenable by rookie mistakes that all but doom her and the boat.

Shipwrecked on a deserted island, Joan is rescued by a local fisherman but rescue does not always equate to salvation. Authorities find illegal drugs on board and with the sailboat's captain missing, Joan is held under suspicion of murder and drug smuggling, unaware her freedom lies with a man she has never met.

Steven A. Twitty is an American writer who spent his formative years in South Miami, Florida and since then has worked as a cowhand on his parents' Tennessee farm, built a log cabin from scratch and graduated with a BA in biology from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. He later joined an international snack company with two year assignments in Singapore, Venezuela, Australia, Ecuador and China. For the past thirty-five years he has lived in Thailand with his Thai wife. He has one daughter and two grandchildren.

Steve has no formal education in fiction writing which, he admits, has at times been like walking a crooked mile with blinders. He spends his time writing novels, traveling and sailing. He is published in multiple genre; Sci-Fi, Literary Fiction, Women's Fiction and Cozy Mystery. His philosophy in life is best described through a quote from the journalist and writer, Hunter S. Thompson: "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW! what a ride!".
