Decorated cloth, lettered in gold at the spine and in black at the upper board, with gilt- and black stamped illustrations. With patterned endpapers, a frontispiece, one double-spread map, and thirty-one captioned plates of engravings. Cloth a little bruised at the backstrip ends and with a single tiny nick. Free endpapers browned. School prize plate to the front pastedown, and the motif of the same school gilt-stamped to the rear board, over the publisher's blind-stamped imprint. A very good copy.
