Wilson, who hosted Victory Garden South on PBS, covers this subject well. Topics discussed include selecting and making containers; using container plants in landscapes and limited spaces; making artificial soils; and caring for the special needs of plants grown in confined spaces. He describes his favorite choices for container gardening and includes flowers, vegetables, herbs, vines, cacti, and trees. A number of regional recommendations are given by horticulturists around the country. This book is similar in scope to Samuel Beckett's The Contained Garden ( LJ 3/1/83). Libraries needing another book on this subject should purchase.
