Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Undated c1882. Slim 4to, unpaginated with pp34 complete with 16 chromolithographic plates and accompanying text pages, all printed on one side. Hardcover no dust jacket. Original publishers pictorial brown cloth binding in black, red and gilt over bevelled boards in good condition with some shelf wear to top & tail of spine and tips, a little rubbing to edges and some marking to boards. Inside previous owners bookplate to ffe paper, a little toning to end papers and some ink transfer to text pages from chromolith plates, although all wonderful plates in excellent clean and bright condition. Cover title: 'Pictures by Landseer'. 284 x 218mm, light brown pictorial cloth over bevelled boards, spine lettered in dark brown, upper cover lettered in gilt, ruled & blocked with design in dark brown and black, 6pp.[34] + 16 full-page linen-backed chromolithographic plates. Contemporary inscription dated 1889 on verso of front free endpaper. Some offsetting to text, but plates in excellent condition. The subjects are principally dogs, but also featured are horses, fawns, sheep, rabbits, chiildren, a blacksmith and a parrot.
