Language, Borders and Bordering Practices/ Lenguaje, Fronteras Y Prácticas De Fronterización : Sociolinguistic Perspectives / Perspectivas Sociolingüísticas

Borders are not just physical lines on a map―they are social and symbolic divisions and processes continuously shaped through language and everyday interaction. This bilingual volume challenges static, binary notions of borders, revealing how they are constructed and maintained, but also resisted and reimagined through specific communicative practices. Bringing together diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives, the contributors examine national, transnational, symbolic, and gendered borders in Europe, Africa and the Americas, engaging with pressing issues such as migration, identity, racism, gender discrimination, and other forms of exclusion mediated by language. This volume offers critical insights into how language shapes the borders of our contemporary world: a thought-provoking contribution that invites readers to critically engage with the subtle and overt ways language participates in the (un)making of social divides.
