8vo. pp. xxxiii, [402]. Uncut in original bds. (spine repaired). Third Edition, Corrected and Enlarged. The author was a fellow of the Linnaean and Royal Societies and professor of botany at Cambridge. His preface includes a list of the "principal fundamental treatises on botanical language that have been hitherto published, and that he has seen or consulted (pp. xxiv-xxxiii), beginning with Linnaeus’s Philosophia Botanica, first published in 1751.
