An (8)pp. article printed on a fine, thick gray toned paper with various Japanese print-like motifs printed on page margins in pastel shades & gold. With 7 exquisite tipped in color plates illustrating 15 different pieces of Japanese lacquerwork, including 3 18th century ecritoires with mother-of-pearl, shell, mineral & other inlays; 4 boxes (inro), several combs, sake cup; mainly from the 17th-18th century. Each of these various sized plates has come partially loose from the rubber cement (?) used to hold them in place on one side; in a few places, these small circles of glue have left just visible spots in the background of these (photomechanical) color plates; each plate is also attached to the opposite side with a line of glue, which has not come loose. Set of 3 double puncture holes from magazine stitching in left hand margin, slight age tanning & a few tiny tears to paper edges of text pages, slight bumping to upper left corner of text pages. Scarce & attractive item as a separate article. Names of collections/collectors represented in plates: Louvre, Henri Vever, Raymond Koechlin, Maurice Feuillet. (French text).
