A large book of autograph lecture notes for elliptical functions and trigonometry rows in the Winter Semester of 1879-80 at Gottingen by the notable mathematician Karl Hermann Amandus Schwarz. Schwarz, who taught at both Gottingen and Berlin, was the leading mathematician in Berlin following Kronecker, Kummer, and Weierstrass. Schwarz attracted graduate students from all over the world, and one of these students was A. L. Daniels, who wrote these lecture notes. There is no indication in this book that Daniels is the note taker, but we have other lecture notes by Daniels in the same handwriting. Gray cloth spine and brown marbled boards. Bookplate of Sydney Ross. Small chip on cover edge, Very Good.
